With A. Baumann & Sohn from Heubach near Aalen, another renowned company has become part of Håndverksgruppen (HG). This is the seventh German company to join HG. Since entering the German market in 2023, HG has quickly gained a foothold and already generates revenue of over 20 million euros.
– We are very pleased to continue our growth journey, also in Germany, and with A. Baumann & Sohn, we have a forward-looking stucco and plaster company in our group, says Øyvind Emblem, Group CEO of Håndverksgruppen.
Altogether, HG now brings together more than 170 craft companies in Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Germany under one roof.
A. Baumann & Sohn, headquartered in Heubach, is a modern company with strong traditions. The company is led in the third generation by Kurt Baumann Jr. and was founded by his grandfather in the 1930s. With 28 employees, the company focuses on facade work as well as interior and exterior plastering.
– I wanted to create a secure framework for the future. By joining HG, our future is secured, and preserving jobs was a decisive factor for me, explains Kurt Baumann.
The process leading to joining HG took Kurt Baumann only six months, from the first meeting to signing the contract. Recently, he informed his employees about this new step.
– I was nervous. But my employees received the news very positively, and we are looking forward to our shared future in HG. There was even a standing ovation. It was very moving, says Baumann.
Kurt Baumann will continue to lead the company, but at the same time it was important for him to create a plan for when he can step back. For the employees, joining HG changes nothing, and Kurt Baumann can continue to lead the company as before.
– I still enjoy working, but I don’t want to work until I am 80. My children are still young, and I want them to have all opportunities open to them, he says.
Since 2002, Kurt has been active as chairman of Stuckateurinnung Schwäbisch Gmünd and will continue in this role. He will also remain a board member of Fachverband Ausbau und Fassade (FAS) Baden-Württemberg.
As part of Håndverksgruppen, Kurt now looks forward to even more networking and collaboration
opportunities. The first meeting with the other general managers of the German HG companies immediately resulted in a joint project – and already the next day, the project was underway.
– We have proven that our business model, which has been successful in Scandinavia, also works internationally. Especially in the German market, we see enormous potential. The level of craft services in Germany is impressive, and our goal is to establish HG here as the leading provider within surface treatment, concludes Group CEO Øyvind Emblem.
