Fifth generation takes over the leadership at HG company Schwenke & Sønn

The Norwegian HG company Schwenke & Sønn AS – provider of craft services and master expertise in painting, masonry, and carpentry – has completed a generational change in its management.

Sigve Schwenke has now taken over as general manager after his father, Thomas Schwenke, thereby representing the fifth generation in the traditional family-run company.

I am incredibly proud to carry the family business forward, says Sigve Schwenke.

Sigve has worked in the company for 12 years and has previously held central responsibility for operations as a project manager.

We have been an important part of the craft industry in Tromsø for over 85 years, and being able to build upon what my father and the generations before him have created feels both right and natural. I look forward to uphold our proud craft traditions together with our talented colleagues and continuing to develop the company.

Thomas Schwenke, who is now stepping down as general manager, looks at the transition with pride:

At Schwenke & Sønn, solid family traditions and a strong sense of community among employees have always been the foundation of our company. I am confident that Sigve, with his commitment, skills, and experience, is absolutely the right person to carry forward our values, quality, and craft traditions.

I would like to extend my thanks to employees and partners for good cooperation over many years. Together, we have developed the business to where it is today, and I am pleased to see that the company is now being led forward by the fifth generation.

Strong Local Roots and Forward-Looking Focus

The company, established in 1938 under the name Malermester Th. Schwenke & Sønn, now employs over 60 people. With eight master craftspeople on staff, Schwenke & Sønn benefits from broad professional competence and a strong focus on quality and service.

For us as a family business, everything is about taking responsibility for our employees, customers, and the local community we are part of. We will continue to be an attractive workplace, deliver quality craft, and cultivate pride in our profession, concludes Sigve Schwenke
